In a crack in the pavement,
With neither food, nor water,
Grows a being of love,
And of amazing beauty.
Neglected, uncared for,
Braving the occasional stomp,
Or a wayward kick,
Seeking certificates, none,
Lone and proud, stands she!
Peaceful, smiling, cheering,
Radiating joy and love to all,
Silently and sweetly, she laughs!
A pause to my walk, I ask,
'What be the secret of thy joy?'
She laughs, then whispers,
'Oh, I expect naught,
So what comes, blesses!'
